Care Guide

Zenkavio garments include a range of fabrics and construction methods, from structured evening gowns with hand-applied beading to fluid resort sets with graphic prints. Because care requirements differ from piece to piece, the most reliable guidance for any item is the care label sewn into the garment itself and the product description on its listing page. This guide offers general, conservative steps that apply across the types of apparel we carry, but it does not replace those item-specific instructions.

Check the Label Before You Do Anything

Before attempting to clean, steam, or store a garment, locate the sewn-in care label. It typically sits at the inner side seam or beneath the back neckline. If the label is missing or unreadable, check the product page description for any fabric or care notes, then contact us with the garment name and a photo of the label area.

Protecting Embellished and Sheer Details

Several Zenkavio pieces feature metallic-toned beading, floral lace appliques, scallop-edge embroidery, feather accents, or semi-sheer chiffon overlays. These elements are often hand-applied or heat-set and can loosen, snag, or flatten under pressure.

  • When putting on or removing a beaded or lace-trimmed garment, grip the fabric at the base layer rather than pulling directly on the embellishment.
  • Keep rings, bracelets, watches, and bag clasps away from beaded bodices and sheer capelets during wear.
  • If a garment has a concealed back zipper, fasten it fully before folding or hanging so the teeth do not catch on lace or beadwork.

Between Wearings

Most Zenkavio fabrics—whether a smooth crepe, a lustrous woven, a structured jacquard, or a lightweight knit with chiffon overlay—benefit from gentle handling after each use.

  • Allow a worn garment to air out on a padded hanger in a well-ventilated space before returning it to the closet. This helps release body moisture and odors without washing.
  • Brush away lint or pet hair with a soft-bristle garment brush, moving in the direction of the fabric nap. Avoid brushing over raised beading or embroidered areas.
  • Keep garments away from direct sunlight for extended periods, as prolonged UV exposure can affect both fabric color and the finish of metallic threadwork.

If You Encounter a Spot or Spill

Act quickly but conservatively. Blot—do not rub—the affected area with a clean, white, absorbent cloth to lift excess liquid. If the stain remains after blotting, stop and assess the fabric type before trying anything else.

Do not apply household cleaners, solvents, bleach, or hot water to an unknown stain on a beaded, lace-trimmed, or sheer-overlay garment. The risk of dissolving adhesives, dulling metallic threads, or distorting delicate weaves is high.

Storing Garments Safely

Structured gowns, column dresses, and pieces with cape or ruffle elements hold their shape best when hung on padded or wide-shoulder hangers. Fold the garment along its natural seams rather than creasing it sharply.

  • For beaded or embroidered pieces, place a layer of acid-free tissue paper over the embellished area before covering with a breathable garment bag. This prevents beads from pressing into each other or snagging the bag lining.
  • Resort sets and knit-base dresses can be folded loosely and stored flat in a drawer or shelf, away from items with zippers, buttons, or rough textures that could cause pulls.
  • Avoid wire hangers, which can distort shoulder lines and leave marks on fluid fabrics.

When to Choose Professional Care

Take a garment to a reputable dry cleaner or specialist who handles beaded, sequined, or lace-embellished apparel when:

  • The care label specifies dry clean only.
  • A stain persists after gentle blotting.
  • The fabric has a visible sheen, lustrous finish, or jacquard weave that you are unsure how to treat.
  • Multiple embellishment types (beading plus lace plus sheer overlay) appear on the same piece.

Inform the cleaner about all decorative elements before they begin processing.
